To mark the 10th anniversary of IWC Schaffhausen’s “Le Petit Prince” editions, they have unveiled an extraordinary new Big Pilot’s Watch 43 Tourbillon Le Petit Prince. With just 300 pieces produced, this timepiece seamlessly blends poetry and engineering, paying homage to the iconic literary work.
The watch boasts a case and crown made of 18-carat Armor Gold and a 43mm case adorned with a captivating deep blue dial featuring a radiant sunray finish, creating a visually stunning contrast. The gold-plated hands and appliques, filled with Super-LumiNova, emit a mesmerizing glow in low-light conditions.
The tourbillon, consisting of 56 parts and weighing a mere 0.663 grams, is a marvel of engineering. Treated with Diamond Shell technology, the pallet lever and escape wheel reduce friction, improving energy flow within the movement. The integrated tourbillon stop allows precise adjustments, bringing the watch to a complete stop for accurate time setting.
Powering the Big Pilot’s Watch 43 Tourbillon Le Petit Prince is the IWC-manufactured 82905 caliber movement. This automatic caliber boasts a Pellaton winding system reinforced with ceramic components, ensuring a power reserve of 80 hours. A delightful detail awaits on the transparent sapphire glass case back—a rotor made of solid 18-carat gold shaped in the likeness of “The Little Prince” standing on his asteroid.
Completing the ensemble is a brown calfskin strap with an 18-carat Armor Gold folding clasp, providing both comfort and sophistication. With its technical prowess, elegant design, and limited availability, the IWC Big Pilot’s Watch 43 Tourbillon Le Petit Prince is a horological masterpiece priced at $72,000—an investment in both luxury and precision.
